Watch: #RebuildSXM Starts Now, People Come Together, New Video of Damage

Now that hurricanes Jose and Irma have come and gone, it’s time to focus on operation #RebuildSXM. SXM Strong will be posting links to a number of fundraisers and charitable organizations shortly that will be actively participating in the rebuild effort.

We too at SXM Strong are raising funds that we will distribute to local charities and relief efforts on the island. Our first fundraiser gives you the option of purchasing an SXM Strong t-shirts (link here) and you’ll also have the option to donate through the same site.

We’re going to make sure you have a host of other donation options to choose from and all we ask is that you please give, to any of them. Please encourage friends and family to give too. It’s time to #RebuildSXM!

Earlier tonight I uncovered some pretty cool video I wanted to share, showing people coming together and supporting the community.

Here is some new video — at least to us — of the damage in the aftermath of Hurricane Irma.

I fell in love with the island of Saint Martin the first time I visited to celebrate my 40th birthday in May of 2009. Since then, I've spent most birthdays there, and have visited countless other times getting to know this wonderful place and the friendly locals that make it so special. I adore the culture, the people, the community, and the beauty of this stunning island. SXM Strong is a website that I started to support humanitarian relief efforts following Hurricane Irma. There was no plan, it just evolved as I witnessed the devastation that Irma caused the island and the huge need to communicate and disseminate information about what had happened and how people could help support this island and its people.
