SHOWME Caribbean: Great Bay Beach in Philipsburg is Back and Thriving (Video)

Take a walk around Sint Maarten and you’ll notice something quite peculiar – things feel pretty normal on this small island. That’s notable because just a few months ago the strongest hurricane in history tore through this island and any thought of ‘normal’ was but a distant memory.

I’ve spoken to a lot of people here in Sint Maarten and the one thing that everyone agrees on is that they are amazed at how quickly the island has bounced back and how good things look, especially the beaches.

Our friends at SHOWME Caribbean have compiled some incredible video around the island, all taken post-Irma. Naturally, I get a lot of questions about how things are in Sint Maarten. I always say the same thing, “amazing”. But you don’t need to take my word for it, because there are plenty of videos to support that statement (like here, here, here, here, and, well you get the point).

Here’s the latest from SHOWME Caribbean that flies over Great Bay Beach in Philipsburg. After watching this, the only real question should be when are you coming?

I fell in love with the island of Saint Martin the first time I visited to celebrate my 40th birthday in May of 2009. Since then, I've spent most birthdays there, and have visited countless other times getting to know this wonderful place and the friendly locals that make it so special. I adore the culture, the people, the community, and the beauty of this stunning island. SXM Strong is a website that I started to support humanitarian relief efforts following Hurricane Irma. There was no plan, it just evolved as I witnessed the devastation that Irma caused the island and the huge need to communicate and disseminate information about what had happened and how people could help support this island and its people.
