In my last update on Wednesday, Tammy was a tropical storm that was moving at a brisk and favorable 23 mph. The latest update from this morning is not trending in the right direction, with Tammy now being classified as a Hurricane.
On the positive side, Tammy is now being forecast on a slightly more easterly path than it was earlier in the week. Not all the islands would be spared a direct hit on the current forecasted track — Barbuda and St. John’s look to be most at risk — but most Leeward islands would likely be grazed by the outer band of the storm.
On the flip side of that, Tammy has slowed considerably, moving WNW at 7 mph. The slower the storm the longer it takes to pass and the more damage it can cause.
The next 24-36 hours will be critical. Stay safe everyone.
