The people who call the island of Saint Martin their home take pride in saying, “I from here.” That pride shows in the remarkable recovery the island has undergone since hurricane Irma barreled through last September. Make no mistake, the road to recovery for the island has been long and arduous, but the sense of pride seen in the local community is awe-inspiring.
If you’ve followed this website over the last few months — or maybe our Facebook page or Twitter page — you’ve seen that I’ve traveled to Saint Martin several times already this year. I’ve met a lot of incredible people and I’ve seen a lot of amazing things on those visits – five in all so far in 2018, with my sixth coming this week.
From my first post-Irma trip back in December until now, so much has happened on Saint Martin. Too much to describe, as hard as I may try. Enter Showme Caribbean.
Showme Caribbean has created an amazing virtual tour of Saint Martin — captured in March 2018 — that takes the viewer on a immersive experience showing the entire island through use of high definition 360-degree aerial and ground imagery. This imagery is complimented perfectly with embedded flyover videos and beautiful promotional videos that will have you feeling like you’re there, in person, as the waves softly tickle your toes.
Below you’ll find the Facebook post from Showme Caribbean with a link to the post-Irma virtual tour. In this tour you will find a number of different features that will guide you as you take your “tour” of the island.
- Click on any one of the hotspot icons to immediately go to that part of the island.
- Click one of the several embedded buttons to see a video flyover of an area, and ground 360-degree tours.
- Click the 360 icon in the bottom right corner and you’ll see thumbnails of 360s from all over the island.
The interactivity that’s built into this virtual tour is seemingly endless. Don’t be surprised if you start to feel instantly relaxed as your tour continues. The only thing missing is the sand and surf!
