In case you missed it, earlier today I published a post that mentioned wanting to get more locals from Sint Maarten/Saint Martin involved and posting on SXM Strong. You can read about it here.
One person I’ve connected with lately is Angie, who currently lives in Saint Martin. Angie was born in Hamburg, Germany and moved to Saint Martin in 2015 with her family. She runs a German blog called Zauber der Karibik (Magic of the Caribbean) that also offers German speaking tours of the island.
In addition, Angie and her family also run a fabulous business called Caribbean Snow Ice which is a dandy little machine that makes tropical flavored snowy ice treats.
Angie spends a lot of her time traveling around Saint Martin taking pictures and providing updates on what’s new on the island. This post is what we hope to be the first of many updates from her as she reports back with everything you need to know about what’s happening in Saint Martin.
Last week, Angie made it over to Marigot to check on some of the businesses in the Marina and the progress they’re making to rebuild.
Please help rebuild SXM and give today. Click here to visit the SXM Strong donate page. Thank you!
Here’s the update with a few pictures below:
La Crossanterie – closed
Tropicana – under construction
La Gallion – gone
Spinnaker – destroyed
La Main a la pate – open!
Côté Lagon Sxm – open!
Angie’s advice: “There are restaurants, beaches and hotels open. But in some areas you will witness destruction. But you will have a one time experience: no crowds on the beaches, warm welcome from the people in SXM and as a local I would be very happy if you come soon!”
In addition, as a bonus feature, I’ve included a video I found on YouTube of different locations around Marigot:
