Nearly a year ago, on September 6, 2017, SXM Strong started on Twitter as a simple idea to be able to share information and support for an island that means so much to me and my family.
Thoughts and prayers to all those on the island of Saint Martin/Sint Maarten. We love you!!#SXM #sxmstrong #SintMaarten #SaintMartin

Over the following days it became clear to me that more support was needed than just a Twitter account. Before I knew it, SXM Strong had this website, a Facebook page and an Instagram page too. I also created a fundraiser to sell a few simple t-shirts with the SXM Strong logo that were used to raise money to help people and organizations on Saint Martin as they worked hard to rebuild following hurricane Irma.
You can imagine my surprise (and feeling of pride) when I saw one of those shirts featured on the front of the Sint Maarten National Recovery and Resilience Plan that was approved by Parliament just last week. And how appropriate that Drae Douglas — the man on a mission to repair 100 roofs — was wearing the shirt as he was working hard to help rebuild SXM.
Once the original fundraisers ended we weren’t able to offer the shirts for sale, until now. Those same t-shirts are now available for purchase through the SXM Strong shop page. In addition, I’ve also added some pretty cool trucker hats to the collection.
Here are some images of the shirts and hats that are available. Shirt sizes range from medium to extra large. Proceeds from sales will be used to continue to support the communities of Sint Maarten/Saint Martin.
